Fifth Batch of 86' Auto Parts Boxcars.
Bluford Shops is proud to announce our fourth group of N scale boxcar runs. This time we are announcing a trio of Double Door 86' auto parts cars. These cars have injection molded plastic bodies, etched metal details, operating knuckle couplers, accurately appearing trucks and cushion draft gear enclosures. Projected MSRP: $24.95 for single cars, $49.90 for 2-packs. These three runs are IN STORES NOW!
87041 B&O quad door single car; 87042 B&O 2-pack.
Pullman Standard built the large batch of quad door cars for the Baltimore & Ohio in 1965. B&O classed them as M-86 and initially assigned them for loading in Parma, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana for destinations across the map.
87051 New York Central quad door single car; 87052 NYC 2-pack.
This batch of cars was built in 1966, classed by NYC as "104B" and initially assigned for loading by Chevy in Flint, Michigan on the Grand Trunk Western. This is another example of auto parts cars belonging to a multi-railroad pool assigned for loading (and unloading, for that matter) off home rails.
86101 L&N double door single car.
Built in 1967, this car was in a pool assigned for loading at a Ford plant in Monroe, Michigan (on the New York Central.) Many think of L&N as a big Appalachian coal road, which of course they were, but they also served many manufacturing centers including Atlanta, Knoxville, Cincinnati, Louisville & Nashville (duh!), Memphis, St. Louis, Birmingham, Montgtomery, and after 1971 Indianapolis and Chicago!
