Southern Pacific had over 650 of these Offset Side cars. They received the lettering seen here in the 1960s. This group was assigned to Collier Carbon & Chemical in California. A total of 12 road numbers will be available: 73021 Southern Pacific Offset Side single; 73022 SP 2-Pack; 73023 SP 3-Pack; 73026 SP 6-Pack.
Atlantic Coast Line took delivery of these Offset Side cars in this paint scheme in 1952. The use of semi-reflective “Prismo ” stripes along the lower edge of freight cars set ACL decades ahead of other railroads and the FRA in this respect.
